Australian Tour 2016

ONE OF THE WORLD’S FINEST TENORS
IN AUSTRALIA FOR THE FIRST TIME
ROBERTO ALAGNA
THE TOUR
SkyHigh has proudly brought to you the superstar tenor Roberto Alagna. We have given three concerts, in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane in July.
On the back of a three month season with the New York Metropolitan Opera in the roles of Canio (Pagliacci), Chevalier des Grieux (Manon Lescaut) and Pinkerton (Madama Butterfly), Alagna’s concert has been a high point of the Australian cultural calendar.
Alagna, the Franco-Italian miracle, has inherited Pavarotti’s mantle as the world’s greatest operatic tenor. But he began as a Parisian cabaret singer and still enjoys performing popular songs that reflect his unique background. His concert program is an exhilarating mix of immortal arias and well-loved classics.
He has been accompanied in Sydney and Melbourne by the Australian Sinfonietta, Australia’s leading classical musicians in the sector today, under the baton of Stefano Miceli, a regular conductor at the world’s great theatres. In Alagna’s Brisbane concert, Stefano Miceli has conducted the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Appearing as Guest Artist has been Australian soprano, Siobhan Stagg, now winning acclaim in Europe’s opera houses.
Roberto Alagna’s turbulent romantic life, his born-in-a-garage back story, his heartthrob looks and his heavenly voice have given birth to Alagna’s Army – fervent fans who have bought 10 million of his albums internationally.
2016 has been Australia’s turn to be enthralled by the man who has put charisma and sex appeal back on the libretto, revitalised the operatic world and introduced a new audience to a compelling world of timeless, classic music.
